NINE FEATURES IN VIET NAM CUISINE CULTURE

In Vietnamese cuisine culture, there are many different ways to cook, perform that can be assumed in following features:

1. The diversity in sociability
Vietnamese is easy to absorb the culinary culture form other races to process into their own. This is also the highlight of Viet Nam cuisine from North to South.

2. Low fat
Most of Vietnamese dishes are made of vegetable, fruit, so it’s less fat, not very much of meat like the Western, not much of fat oil like Chinese’s.

3. The bold flavor
Vietnamese usually use fish sauce to season when they cook, and combine with many other spices…so the dish is really bold. Each dish also has different accompanied sauce.

4. The synthesizer of materials, flavors

Vietnamese dish is usually combined from many spices

Vietnamese dishes includes many kind of food such as meat, shrimp, crab with vegetable, beans, rice. Besides, there are also a synthesis of tastes such as sour, spicy, salt, sweetness, fleshiness, fat…

5. The goodness and heathy
The word “ngon lanh” (good and healthy) is “wrapped” in Vietnamese culinary spirit. Viet Nam cuisine is a combination of dishes, tastes to make its own feature. The food with cool element like duck, snail usually cooked with hot spices like ginger, laksa leaf… This is an interesting way to balance the dish just so Viet Nam.

Vietnamese always use chopsticks in their meal

Picking food by chopsticks is an art, which is how to pick the food but not dropping them. Vietnamese chopsticks are available in every family’s meal, even with BBQ dish, Vietnamese rarely use fork like the Western.

7. The community
The community is expressed clearly in Viet Nam’s cuisine, there is always a bowl of fish sauce for common use in a meal.

8. The hospitality

The hospitality is showed by a greeting before each meal.

Before each meal, Vietnamese have a habit to invite everybody. The greeting express the communication, the love, the hospitality, the caress to others…

9. Preparing in a tray

Preparing many dishes in a meal is a feature of Vietnamese culinary habit.

Vietnamese has habit of preparing a meal in a tray, making many dishes in a meal and bring them all in at a same time, not like the Western, they serve dish by dish.
